Overview

## What is AskTheCustomer?

AskTheCustomer is a customer evidence platform for B2B teams. It builds evidence-based AI customer personas and segments from your own interviews, sales calls, support tickets and surveys, then lets your team question them directly. Every answer cites the records behind it and shows how strong the evidence is. A separate market view, drawn from public reviews and communities, is always kept apart from your own customers.

- **Built for:** B2B SaaS and tech-enabled companies with 100+ customers
- **Used by:** product, product marketing, sales, customer success and leadership teams

The challenge

## Your customer is everywhere in the data, and *nowhere in the decision.*

Teams collect more customer evidence than ever. The hard part is finding the right signal at the moment a decision is made. Without it, the loudest opinion in the room wins.

![A team debates the roadmap. One says: my gut says ship it. Under the table sits an unopened box of customer interviews, and the customer's chair stays empty.](https://www.askthecustomer.ai/hubfs/atc-problem-scene.jpg "A team debates the roadmap. One says: my gut says ship it. Under the table sits an unopened box of customer interviews, and the customer's chair stays empty.")

### Evidence is scattered

Notes, calls, tickets, surveys, reviews and communities live in too many tools.

“I know we have the insights, but I can't find them when I need them.”Product manager

### It's slow and manual

Piecing feedback together takes hours. Most decisions can't wait that long.

“It takes me hours to piece together what our customers are saying.”Marketing lead

### The view is incomplete

Internal feedback shows part of the picture. The wider market conversation is missing.

“I know there's a bigger conversation out there.”Founder

### Insights get lost

Learning sits in old notes or leaves with people. The same questions come back.

“We keep having the same discussions because insights aren't shared.”Customer success

The platform

## From raw evidence to a *decision you can defend.*

Five stages, one workspace. Start with the evidence you already have. No new research project needed.

1

### Ingest

Upload your evidence. Each interview, call and ticket becomes a traceable record.

Interviews

Calls

Tickets

Surveys

2

### Classify

Every record is tagged by source and as customer or prospect, so the two are never blended.

Reviews

Communities

3

### Map

The Customer Map groups evidence into segments, then the personas inside them, each with an evidence rating.

You stay in control

4

### Ask

Question one persona, all customers, prospects or everything. Compare views side by side.

On demand

5

### Decide

Every answer cites its records and shows how strong the evidence is.

Sources

Confidence

Dual perspective

## One question. *Two clearly separate views.*

Your customer evidence is never silently mixed with internet opinion. You see where your customers and the wider market agree, and where they don't.

You ask · Enterprise · Security Lead + IT Admin

“Would Enterprise customers understand this packaging, or are we making it too complicated?”

What your customer thinks

### Grounded in your evidence

> “The value is clear, but the tier names create work. Security Leads think about control and risk. IT Admins think about deployment effort. The current names map to neither.”

Strong evidence · from your calls and interviews

Overlap = a fuller perspective

What the market thinks

### Grounded in external signals

> “Buyers respond well to clear, outcome-based tiers. Feature-heavy packaging is more often called confusing.”

Live web research · public reviews and forums

Customer Map

## Let the evidence show *who your customers are.*

The Customer Map proposes segments, then the roles inside each one. Every persona links to the records it was built from, with its evidence strength shown.

- **Auto by default.** Set limits if you want fewer or more segments.
- **No invented personas.** If the evidence isn't there, the persona isn't either.
- **Evidence strength on show.** You know when to trust an answer and when to go and ask a real customer.

### Enterprise

Strong evidence

47 interactions · example

Complex buying group. High governance and integration needs.

IT Administrator

Security Lead

Economic Buyer

Procurement

### Small business

Medium evidence

Use cases

## Built for the decisions *customer-facing teams make.*

Product & UX

### Pressure-test ideas before you build

“Which persona needs this feature most?” “What would confuse an IT Admin in this flow?”

Product marketing

### Message in your customer's words

“How do customers describe this problem?” “Which value prop lands with Enterprise vs SMB?”

Sales & enablement

### Get ahead of objections

“What does Procurement care about that the evaluator doesn't?” “Which objections show up late?”

Leadership

### Check assumptions against evidence

“Where are our beliefs stronger than the evidence?” “Is this problem worth solving?”

![A marketer asks which content topics would help prospects most this quarter and gets four evidence-based themes.](https://www.askthecustomer.ai/hubfs/atc-content-scene.jpg "A marketer asks which content topics would help prospects most this quarter and gets four evidence-based themes.")

Example: a content plan built from interviews, sales calls, tickets and research.

Outcomes

## Decisions your team *can stand behind.*

**Answers in minutes, not weeks**

Ask during the meeting instead of searching through tools afterwards.

**Evidence over opinion**

Every answer shows its sources and how strong the evidence is.

**Customers and prospects kept apart**

What paying customers say is never blended with what prospects say.

**You stay in control**

Delete any source, or your whole workspace, at any time.

Our standard

AskTheCustomer supports customer understanding. It does not replace real customers. When the evidence is thin, it says so.

Choosing a method

## Evidence-based AI personas vs *other ways to hear the customer*

Each method answers a different question. Here's when to use which, including when AskTheCustomer is not the right choice.

| Method | Built from | Best for | Watch out for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Evidence-based AI personas (AskTheCustomer) | Your own interviews, calls, tickets and surveys, plus separate market signals | Fast answers to everyday product, messaging and sales questions, with sources | Only as strong as the evidence you load. Thin evidence is flagged. |
| Prompt-generated AI personas | A description you write, plus general AI knowledge | Brainstorming and early ideas before you have customers | Not grounded in your customers, so answers can't be traced to a source |
| Customer interviews | Live conversations with real customers | Deep understanding and new discoveries | Slow to schedule and hard to reuse later |
| Surveys | Structured answers from many respondents | Measuring how common something is | Needs good sampling. Answers are only as good as the questions. |

FAQ

## Questions about AI customer personas

What is an AI customer persona?

An AI customer persona is a model of a customer type that you can ask questions. In AskTheCustomer, each persona is built from real customer evidence, such as interview notes and call transcripts, so its answers reflect what customers actually said.

How is AskTheCustomer different from a generic AI persona?

A generic AI persona is generated from a prompt and general AI knowledge. AskTheCustomer personas are built only from your own customer evidence. Every answer shows the sources behind it and how strong the evidence is.

What data do I need to start?

Customer evidence you already have: interview notes or transcripts, sales call transcripts, support ticket exports, survey results or research documents. Upload JSON, CSV, TXT, Markdown or ZIP files (up to 25 MB each). Connectors for HubSpot, Zendesk, Google Drive, Zoom, Fireflies, Fathom and Otter are in beta. A handful of sources is a good starting point.

How accurate are the answers?

Customer answers use only your own evidence and list the records they drew on, so you can check them yourself. Each answer shows how strong the evidence is. When it's too thin, AskTheCustomer says so. It supports customer understanding. It does not replace talking to real customers.

What is the difference between "your customer" and "the market"?

"Your customer" answers come only from your own evidence. "The market" answers come from a live web search of public reviews, forums and communities for each question, with sources listed. The two are always shown separately, and you can switch the market view off.

Who is AskTheCustomer for?

B2B SaaS and tech-enabled companies with 100+ customers and 10 - 500 employees, that already collect customer evidence and make frequent product, positioning or go-to-market decisions. The [fit guide](https://www.askthecustomer.ai/who-its-for?hsLang=en) also explains who it is not for.

How much does AskTheCustomer cost?

It's free during early access. No card needed, and nothing is charged automatically. If you want to continue afterwards, we'll agree pricing with you first. [Apply for Early Access](https://www.askthecustomer.ai/early-access?hsLang=en).
